Hello, I’m Valeria Romano

I love travelling and the kind of places that turn a getaway into a memory. On Mapiola I write about hotels, country houses and charming hideaways to help you find the right place to rest and feel at home.

Why I write Mapiola

Choosing where to sleep is often the slowest part of planning a trip. There are hundreds of options, all with lovely photos, and it’s hard to tell which one suits you. Mapiola exists for that: to describe each place the way a friend who has looked into it properly would.

The kind of places you’ll find

I’m drawn to small places with personality: farm stays in Tuscany, country houses in northern Spain, family-run hotels in France, hostels on the Camino. Places where whoever greets you learns your name.

What every article covers

  • Exactly where it is and how to get there.
  • What the rooms are like and which services it offers.
  • What guests mention most, good and bad.
  • Who it suits, and who it doesn’t.

If you’d like to know how I put each piece together, I explain it in how I write Mapiola’s articles.
