Kriò Suite, an elegant B&B in Salerno's historic centre

Kriò Suite in Salerno

Kriò Suite is a B&B in central Salerno, in an old palazzo a short walk from via dei Mercanti, the sea and the station. Spacious, clean rooms and attentive owners. Ideal for visiting the city without a car, but expect road noise and app-based access.

Mapiola is a travel blog: this is not the official website of Kriò Suite.

Where Kriò Suite is in Salerno

Kriò Suite is a bed & breakfast on Via Velia, in the centre of Salerno. According to guests it occupies an old, characterful palazzo, on the third floor, and this gives it a character you do not find in the usual city hotels.

The location is its strong point and the reviews keep saying so: a short walk from via dei Mercanti, the gateway to the old town, close to the sea and the central station. For that reason more than one guest stresses that you do not need a car to visit Salerno.

On foot you can easily reach, according to the property description, the Duomo and the marina. One guest also recalls being close to the Luci d'artista, the light installations that brighten the city. Anyone arriving by car would do well to ask the owner where to park: guests say they are always ready to advise.

What the rooms are like and how the welcome works

The rooms at Kriò Suite are described as spacious, bright and tastefully furnished. The description mentions designer furniture, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a private bathroom with toiletries. One review mentions the comfortable mattress on the single beds.

The welcome deserves its own note. Many guests appreciate how quick the check-in is and how kind the owner is: some got their room early, others had it changed after a mix-up, and some describe replies to their messages that came almost instantly. Another review mentions the care shown to a person with a disability, who was given the most comfortable room.

Access, though, is partly automated. One review says you only get into the building with the link to an app, so there is no reception desk waiting for you. That is fine if you like being independent, less so if you arrive tired with a dead phone.

What guests say

On Google, Kriò Suite has a rating of 4.5 from 23 reviews: few, but very consistent. These are the themes that come up.

  • The cleanliness. Almost everyone calls it excellent or spotless, and some find the building even nicer than the photos.
  • The location. The centre, the sea and the station within easy reach, with shops and restaurants around.
  • The owners. Polite, punctual and happy to give advice on where to eat and what to see.
  • The breakfast. One review describes a generous breakfast with fresh brioche of several kinds; another places it in front of the building.

Someone writes that it feels better than a hotel, and for a B&B in a historic building that is the compliment that matters.

What to know before booking

Kriò Suite has few drawbacks, but they should be said up front. This is how I read them.

What some guests sayWhat it means for you
The street is full of bars, cafés and shops, and outside noise lasts until around 2 amIf you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs
No coffee machine or kettle in the roomDo not count on a coffee when you wake up
Building access through an app, with no receptionKeep your phone charged and the link to hand
One room, called Positano, is beautiful but expensiveCompare the price with your budget
Wi-Fi could be betterIf you work remotely, ask first

There is also a terse review that calls the stay simply "quite ok". In short, opinions are good, but it is not a place for absolute silence.

Who it suits

I would choose it for a weekend in Salerno without a car: you sleep in a building with character, and you are already in the centre when you step out. It also suits a couple or someone travelling for work who likes getting around on foot.

I would not recommend it to anyone who sleeps badly with street noise, to anyone who wants a reception desk always staffed, or to anyone looking for a shared space where they can make themselves a coffee.

What to see in Salerno and other ideas in Campania

From Kriò Suite you can start in the historic centre: via dei Mercanti, the Duomo, the seafront and the marina. With a quiet day you can cover almost everything without using a car.

If you want to look further afield in Campania, on Mapiola you will find B&B L'angolo di campagna, in Piano di Sorrento, Abalon Pompei Resort, in Pompei and B&B Aminei Metrò, in Naples. Each has its own page, and it is worth comparing them at your own pace.
