B&B Monteleo Salento, a quiet base near the beaches

B&B Monteleo Salento in Morciano di Leuca

B&B Monteleo Salento is a bed and breakfast in Morciano di Leuca, Apulia, with air-conditioned rooms, private bathrooms, WiFi and a panoramic terrace. It suits anyone who wants a quiet base near the Salento beaches and has a car. Read the recent reviews before you book.

Mapiola is a travel blog: this is not the official website of B&B Monteleo Salento.

Where B&B Monteleo Salento is and how to get there

B&B Monteleo Salento is in Morciano di Leuca, on Via Garibaldi, in the south of the Salento peninsula, in Apulia. Many guests describe it as quiet and well placed, because you can leave town without traffic and reach the coast and the inland villages quickly.

Some reviews put it a few minutes from the sea and about 3 km from the Torre Vado beaches. The distances I have on hand are clear. The Grotta Zinzulusa is 29 km away, the Isola di Sant'Andrea and Punta Pizzo regional nature park is 36 km, and Gallipoli station is 39 km. If you fly in, Brindisi-Casale airport is about 104 km away, so a car is practically essential here.

Rooms and what the B&B offers

The rooms are air-conditioned, with a private bathroom that has a shower, hairdryer and toiletries. WiFi is free, and the property has a panoramic terrace for unwinding after a day out. For a couple or someone travelling for work, the basics are covered.

  • The terrace. It is one of the features I like most on paper, for a break after the beach and day trips.
  • The bathroom. In the past some guests praised the wide shower with its mosaic tiling.
  • The WiFi. It is free, but a recent review says it never reached the room.

The older reviews talk about new, fresh-smelling and very well kept rooms. Time passes, and it is worth knowing how things are today, because the recent comments tell a different story.

What guests say

The Google rating is 4.5 out of 5, from 52 reviews. But the picture is not uniform here, and it is better to look closely at the order in which the opinions arrived.

The reviews from a few years ago repeat one thing: the hospitality. The owner and the staff are described as polite, helpful and ready to give advice on beaches, restaurants and places to see. People also talk about cleanliness, new rooms, a generous breakfast and a convenient position for exploring the Salento.

The more recent reviews are harsher. Two guests point to a change of management, and the complaints include rooms found dirty on arrival, no hot water in the evening, poor towels, a noisy fridge and air conditioner, and WiFi that does not reach the room. One person also remembers a booking problem, years ago.

What to know before you book

The most important question is breakfast. A recent review, otherwise very positive, says it was not served. There is a vending machine with drinks and snacks for a fee, and for something more substantial you drive a minute to a bar.

What guests likeWhat to keep in mind
Quiet position near beaches and villagesYou need a car, the airport is far
Panoramic terrace and air-conditioned roomsRecent reviews mention poor cleanliness
A guest praised the pillows and bedNo breakfast included, only a vending machine
Hospitality praised in the pastSeveral guests reported a change of management

Before booking B&B Monteleo Salento, I would ask directly what is included, how the rooms are today and whether the WiFi works in the room.

Who it suits

I see it as a good fit for people who choose the Salento for the sea and for driving around, not for spending time in the property. If you want a comfortable bed, a terrace and a quiet position, it works, as long as you do not expect breakfast in the house.

I would avoid it if you travel with small children and need reliable cleanliness standards, or if breakfast is part of the holiday for you. In that case it is worth comparing with other places in the area, such as B&B Le stanze di Brando e Nico in Tricase or Tenuta Cavalieri in Leverano.

What to do around Morciano di Leuca

From Morciano di Leuca you can reach nearby beaches, such as Torre Vado, and then drive up the coast. The Grotta Zinzulusa and the Sant'Andrea and Punta Pizzo area are within 29 to 36 km. Gallipoli is 39 km away.

If you are planning a longer trip around Apulia, you could also take a look at B&B Tenuta Canneddi in Avetrana.
