Su Livariu farm stay, family hospitality and Sardinian cooking

Agriturismo Su Livariu di Teresa Casu in Siamaggiore

Agriturismo Su Livariu is a working farm in Siamaggiore, Sardinia, run by Teresa and Franco. Spacious, quiet rooms, traditional fish and meat dinners and a family atmosphere. It suits anyone who wants calm near Oristano and the Sinis, less so those looking for nightlife.

Mapiola is a travel blog: this is not the official website of Agriturismo Su Livariu di Teresa Casu.

Where Su Livariu is and how to get there

Agriturismo Su Livariu is in Siamaggiore, in the province of Oristano, on Via San Pietro, in the Sardinian countryside. Guests place it a few hundred metres from the SS 131 main road, along a convenient provincial road, and close to Cabras.

The description puts the Tharros archaeological site about 23 km away and Capo Mannu beach 27 km. Cagliari-Elmas airport is far, about 100 km, so think about renting a car.

One review says the Sinis peninsula and Is Arutas are about twenty kilometres away. It is therefore a good base if you want the sea without sleeping in a crowded area.

What the rooms are like

At Su Livariu in Siamaggiore the rooms are spacious, comfortable and, according to guests, recently renovated with taste. They overlook the garden, and the bathroom is private, with toiletries, hairdryer and bidet.

  • The silence. Several reviews mention it, a silence broken only by birdsong.
  • The essentials. Free Wi-Fi, private parking and a flat-screen TV.
  • Breakfast. Italian style, with local produce.
  • Bicycles. The farm offers bike hire, useful for getting around the countryside.

I have no data on the number of rooms or on a swimming pool, so I will not promise either. Ask about everything before you confirm.

Teresa's cooking and what guests say

On Google the rating is 4.8 from 55 reviews. The reviews I read are almost all enthusiastic and keep returning to a few points.

  • The table. Several guests praise the traditional fish and meat dinners. One review mentions the linguine allo scoglio (seafood linguine), and another a tasting of local products.
  • The hosts. Teresa and Franco are described as welcoming, available and at the same time discreet. Some guests say they felt part of the family.
  • Repeat guests. One customer says they have been coming for many, many years for a break during their holidays, which for me is worth more than many stars.
  • The working farm. It is described as a real farm, which offers its products to visitors without giving up clean rooms.

What to know before booking

The reviews I read contain no real criticism, so I work out the limits from the facts. Here they are.

The good sideWhat is worth knowing
Silence and olive grove all aroundYou need a car to get around
Fish and meat dinners with the hostsCheck whether dinner is available on your dates
Informal, family hospitalityA home atmosphere, not a hotel with reception services

The sea is not at your door. Capo Mannu and the Sinis take a bit of driving, and Cagliari airport is far. If you want bars and nightlife within walking distance, you will find nothing like that in Siamaggiore.

Who it suits and what to do nearby

I recommend it to couples, families and two people travelling together, like a mother and daughter, who want a quiet place to unwind and eat well. For me, Su Livariu is the right address if you want to visit Oristano, Cabras and the Sinis from a calm base, and return in the evening to a Sardinian dinner.

If you cycle, the bike hire lets you explore the surrounding countryside. Tharros is an easy drive.

If you want to change area within Sardinia, look at S'Archittu Bed&Breakfast in S'Archittu or Acquazzurra Rooms in Tortolì.
