Villa Pastorelli, garden and events in Pergusa (Enna)

Villa Pastorelli is a country villa with rooms in Pergusa, near Enna, in Sicily. It has a garden with terraces and a sun lounger, rooms with private bathrooms and free parking. It suits anyone looking for nature and quiet, or a venue for weddings and parties. Less so for beach lovers or village life.
Mapiola is a travel blog: this is not the official website of Villa Pastorelli.
Where Villa Pastorelli is in Pergusa
Villa Pastorelli is in Pergusa, in Contrada San Giovannello, in the Enna area, deep in the Sicilian interior. It is a countryside position rather than a village one, so expect greenery and quiet rather than bars and shops on your doorstep.
Guests talk about a garden that overlooks a stretch of water and, in the distance, the city of Enna, which lights up in the evening. To get there and to move around you need a car, and luckily the private car park is free. Those arriving by plane can use an airport shuttle, but it is paid.
To me it is a base for anyone who wants to get away from the noise and feels like driving around Sicily without hurrying.
What the rooms and services are like at Villa Pastorelli
All the rooms at Villa Pastorelli have a private bathroom, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, with a corner for tea and coffee. Some have a fitted kitchen, others a view of the mountains. Don't expect the luxury of a big hotel, because this is a country villa with a family feel.
The real strength, though, is outside. The garden has terraces, a picnic area and a sun terrace, and among the services there is also an outdoor bath. According to the property description, these are the things to know.
- For families. Children's play area, pushchairs available and a babysitting service.
- To relax. Massages, an outdoor bath and a sun terrace among the greenery.
- To get around and eat. Bicycles for hire, grocery delivery and a paid airport shuttle.
What guests say about Villa Pastorelli
On Google Villa Pastorelli has a rating of 4.4 out of 5, with 141 reviews. The picture is very positive, but it needs reading carefully. Most of the comments come from people who were there for a wedding or a party, not to sleep.
Several people talk about a well-kept park, almost English in feel, with Sicilian plants, and a beautiful light at sunset. The owners' friendliness, the cleanliness, the food and the entertainment for children also come up often. Those who have been more than once say it is always a pleasure to return.
The rooms, on the other hand, come up rarely in the reviews. If your plan is simply to sleep there, you have fewer testimonies to go on, and it would be wise to ask for more details before deciding.
What to know before booking Villa Pastorelli
There are three things to bear in mind. None is a disaster, but it is better to know them beforehand.
| What you will like | What to know |
|---|---|
| Well-kept garden with terraces and a sun terrace | Many reviews come from events, so ask whether there is a party on your dates |
| Kind and helpful owners | One critical review complains about a catering service imposed for a party |
| Free private parking | The villa is in the countryside, so you need a car to get around |
The critical review is several years old and concerns renting the villa for a single evening, not a stay in a room. Still, it makes a useful point. If you want to organise an event, ask straight away what is included and what you can choose yourself, so you avoid surprises.
Who I recommend it for
I would choose Villa Pastorelli for a relaxed stay in the countryside, perhaps with the family, thanks to the play area and the garden. I would also choose it for a wedding or a party, given its reputation among those who have been there. I would not recommend it to anyone who wants the centre of a village within walking distance or a night out without having to drive.
If you are travelling with children, the family services really matter. Pushchairs, a play area and babysitting are not found at every countryside property.
If you want to compare other bases in Sicily, look at B&B A casa di amici in Caltanissetta or Gli Zii di Sicilia in Racalmuto. Two more addresses to add to your list.
What to do around Pergusa
Pergusa is known for its lake, and the city of Enna, which can be glimpsed from the garden, is the most natural stop, with its historic centre up on the hill. A little further on is Piazza Armerina, with the Villa Romana del Casale, famous for its mosaics.
These are my own ideas and not services of the property, and all of them need a car. Before setting off, check with the villa the arrival times and any shuttle, especially if you are flying in.
